While I'm a big supporter of including at least 1-2 neutral themed sets in everyone's newborn session, that doesn't mean that your session can't be unique! Neutral sets are important to include because they are timeless and can be displayed anywhere. But it's equally important to include things that are important to your family. Here are a few of my favorite ways that previous families have customized their newborn's photos:
1. Incorporate your favorite team
This family was a big fan of the Eagles, so they asked if we could use a helmet that they had during their session. Additionally, you could ask for a set based on your favorite book, movie, or place.
2. Showcase a family heirloom
Some families ask if we can take a photograph of their child in an outfit that was made for them by their grandparents or even their great grandparents. These outfits are made with so much love and truly one of a kind, and the photos of your little one in it are sure to be a family favorite. A handmade blanket would also be a great item to include.
3. Remember a loved one
This little girl was named after her grandmother, who unfortunately passed before she was born. As a way to include them in her newborn session we created these two sets with photographs of her with their photographs.
Other items that could represent a loved one include a necklace, a piece of clothing, or an item that reminds you of that family member.
Those are just a few of my favorite ways to customize a newborn session! If there is something important to you or your family that you would like to include during your session, don't hesitate to talk to your photographer about it.
